It's strange sometimes how quickly time can pass - from finishing work on the 17th until now, it all seems a bit of a blur. Some of that is expected - the week and a half tripping around with the train was always going to go quick, but I didn't expect the days following to slip by so quickly either. I'm glad I took the two days extra and came back early from the train trip - I needed it, not only to recover sufficiently from the long days but to also pack, as I had not progressed my packing as much as I'd hoped prior to going away with the train. All too soon yesterday rolled around - my car packed full of virtually everything I own, ready to be relocated to Christchurch And time to leave my flat of the last 6-8 months in Manor Park - which has been a great place to be, I wish it had been for longer. . The last few day's have also given a chance to say "So long, for now" to family and some close friends, which has a bit hard. Realising I'm not going to see people for some time has hot me harder than I thought, and there's still more of that to come over the next two days.
5 and a half years ago I rode into Wellington aboard a ferry, car full of possessions (though most of my stuff was in a moving truck) ready for new adventures overseas. Currently, I'm sitting on another Ferry waiting to depart Wellington at the beginning of a much bigger adventure, with my car once again full of possessions (no moving truck this time, just what's in my car and it's a different car than I arrived with). It's funny but only what's on my front seat is coming with me to the UK, the rest is for storage - despite getting rid of a lot of crap, I still own a lot of crap. Ah well!
And with that, the ferry is now creeping out of the berth. So long, Wellington, it's been awesome. Hello, new adventure.
