Yesterday evening, since we were not able to be there with the rest of the family to farewell Grandad, Jeremy, Rachel and myself went to The Tap on the Line in Kew to have an Ale in memory of Grandad (or glass of water in Rachel's case, since she's good and doesn't drink!). Jeremy had picked the pub out - it is apparently the only Pub in London situated right on a railway platform, and had a good clear view of the Underground and Overground trains from the windows. It seemed like an appropriate place, and I have to say it was quite a nice venue - it was a bit like a nice atrium with lots of plants and flowers, with one wall facing a planted courtyard and the opposite wall facing the platform. We recalled a few stories about Grandad, talked about this and that and remarked upon how although his health wasn't so great the last few years, 84 years is a pretty good innings when all is said and done. We also discussed how good it will be to see Mum & Dad in a few weeks when they arrive over here at the end of the month - it is probably the longest my brother and I have ever gone without seeing our parents in person.
I miss you a lot, Grandad - Rest in Peace.
